Job summary

Big Motoring World is seeking a proactive Vehicle Inspector and Valuer in the Wimbledon area. You will work with the sales team to negotiate car valuations for customers’ vehicles, delivering online and in-person valuations with confidence and passion.

The role emphasizes thorough appraisals, detailed documentation, and strong customer communication. You will review MOTs, history, and valuations, upload data to the dashboard, and assist with handovers while supporting the sales team.

Qualifications

• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence; driving checks and insurability may apply.
• Solid knowledge of car makes and models and basic mechanical concepts.
• Strong customer focus with clear, confident communication.
• Able to persuade and negotiate and remain calm under pressure.
• Good administration skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers professionally and conduct thorough appraisals of potential part exchange vehicles.
• Review MOT and service history of potential part exchange vehicles.
• Obtain online valuations for retail and auction-qualifying vehicles.
• Upload valuations to the company dashboard and coordinate with Sales Managers.
• Receive incoming part exchange vehicles and move them to correct areas.
• Scan vehicle documents onto the internal system and maintain records.
• Coordinate collection of part exchange vehicles with senior management.
• Perform other reasonable duties as requested, including weekend shifts.

Job description

As a vehicle Inspector and valuer, you will be working together with the sales team, you are fully responsible and accountable for negotiating car valuations for our customers’ existing vehicles.

You will enjoy and be confident talking to our customers and delivering used car valuations with passion and understanding with your newly found knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• To greet Customers in a professional and confident manner.
• To complete a thorough and accurate appraisal of potential part exchange vehicles using an auction valuation app.
• To review the MOT and Service History of potential part exchange vehicles.
• To obtain online retail valuations for those vehicles qualifying as retail vehicles.
• To obtain online auction valuations for those vehicles qualifying as auction vehicles.
• To liaise with Sales Managers to upload part exchange valuations onto the Company’s internal dashboard system.
• To receive and process incoming part exchange vehicles from the Handover Team.
• To move incoming part exchange vehicles into the correct designated areas.
• To scan all vehicle documents onto the internal system.
• To liaise with Senior Branch Management to arrange for the collection of part exchange vehicles from site.
• To conduct any other reasonable duties as requested.

Person specification

• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence - Any job offer that requires driving company vehicles is subject to a DVLA check, and applicants with six or more penalty points or a previous disqualification may not meet our insurance requirements and therefore may not be eligible for employment.
