Job summary

Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking an Assistant Chef to support the busy school kitchen, preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality vegetarian meals for students and staff while working closely with the Chef Manager.

You will help maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety, assist with stock, cooking and plating, and contribute to reliable, timely catering for the school community within Avanti Schools Trust, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and professional development.

Qualifications

• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety.
• Good organisational skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment.
• Ability to follow strict instructions in a systematic and consistent manner.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of all students.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and service of nutritious vegetarian meals for students, staff and hospitality.
• Cook, assemble and plate food to required quality and hygiene standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and waste disposal.
• Assist with stock management and day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Follow Health and Safety, COSHH, HACCP and temperature-control procedures.
