Job summary

Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking an Assistant Chef to support the busy school kitchen. You will prepare and serve nutritious vegetarian meals and assist with daily kitchen operations under the Chef Manager, ensuring high standards of hygiene and food safety.

You will be part of a team delivering quality meals for students and staff, with responsibilities including stock management, cleaning, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety.
• Good Organisational Skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment.
• Ability to follow strict instructions.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of students.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef Manager with the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality vegetarian meals for students and staff.
• Prepare, cook, assemble and plate food to required quality and safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and manage waste disposal and cleaning.
• Assist with stock management and day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure timely service.
• Follow Health and Safety, COSHH, HACCP, and reporting of defects or risks.
