Job summary

Talantir seeks a Chief Financial Officer to join the senior leadership and drive financial strategy, planning, and governance for a fast-scaling cyber security hardware start-up backed by venture capital. You will lead budgeting, cash management, and reporting while partnering with the CEO and board on growth plans.

You will own fundraising activities, financial modelling, and cross-border expansion, building robust systems to support rapid growth across the US, EMEA, and APAC.

Qualifications

• Startup or scale-up experience essential in a venture-backed environment.
• Ground-up, first finance hire experience.
• VC/PE investor relations and fundraising (Series A-C).
• Willingness to travel to Sheffield on occasion.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting.
• Exposure to international expansion and multi-currency environments.
• Comfort operating in hardware/deep-tech manufacturing contexts.
• Experience implementing finance systems in scaling businesses.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Deliver monthly management accounts, KPI reporting, and board packs.
• Own cash flow management, runway visibility, and working capital control.
• Support fundraising preparation, including modelling and due diligence materials.
• Ensure governance, risk, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
• Provide commercial finance partnering to product, engineering, and operations to improve margins.
• Develop scalable finance systems, processes, and team capabilities.
