You will work closely with the Real Estate VAT Director and Partner to support clients on a wide range of Real Estate and construction matters. One day you could be advising an investor on a multi-million pound property acquisition, and the next day delivering training to finance and commercial teams at a housebuilder client. No two days are the same!

Responsibilities:
  1. Manging client relationships and acting as the principal point of contact for clients regarding VAT issues and queries.
  2. Delivering practical and commercial VAT advice to clients on land and property matters.
  3. Working alongside the wider Real Estate tax specialists to provide VAT input into tax structuring and Real Estate tax due diligence projects.
  4. Developing junior team members, including delegating appropriate work, on-the-job coaching, and providing formal feedback.
  5. Working with the Real Estate VAT Director and Partner to actively assist in business development, including preparing proposals for new work and building relationships with clients and targets.
About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience at Manager or Associate Director level within VAT, as well as experience in winning work and/or unlocking fees from existing clients. You should be confident in developing junior staff and fostering a positive team environment. Key qualities include:

  • CTA qualified or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience operating at Associate Director level (or equivalent), or the skills to undertake the role
  • Good knowledge of VAT issues in the Real Estate and Construction sectors, either as a specialist or as part of a broader role
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a national team
  • Proven client handling and relationship-building skills
  • An inclusive approach to people development and supervision, with strong coaching abilities
  • Business development experience or interest (advantageous but not essential)
