Job summary

Swift Temps Ltd is partnering with Royal Mail to source Postal Delivery Workers in Plymouth. The role involves sorting mail, collecting the vehicle, and delivering letters and parcels to the local community.

The shift is 15:00–21:00 with 30–40 hours per week, outdoors in all weather, and requires a responsible, customer-focused approach. Candidates should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team; a DBS check will be completed before start and a full UK manual driving licence

Qualifications

• Some previous experience in a customer facing or delivery role would be ideal but not essential.
• You will be required to complete a full DBS security check prior to commencing work.
• A full UK manual driving licence (in your current UK address)
• Maximum 6 penalty points

Job description

Due to an increase in demand, Swift Temps are working in partnership with the Royal Mail to source Postal Delivery Workers to support with their busy operation.

• Location: Plymouth
• Working Hours: 30-40 hours per week, with Saturday/Sunday requirements as per the depot's requirements. Currently 1 shift pattern available - 15:00 till 21:00
• Hourly Rate: £13.69 per hour PAYE basic and £14.38 Overtime

About the Postal Delivery Worker role:

You’ll start your day in the local delivery office, sorting and gathering the mail needed for your route. You will collect your allocated vehicle or trolley and your hand-held computer device (detailing your route and tracking your mail) and then deliver the letters and parcels to your local community.

About You:

• The ideal candidate for this role will be upbeat, self-motivated, and happy to work alone as well as part of a team.
• You will be helpful and approachable displaying a strong sense of community, as you get to know the people you meet on your round.
• Royal Mail deliver parcels whatever the weather, so you will enjoy working outdoors and due to the amount of walking required you will need to be relatively fit and healthy.
• You will be smartly presented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner.
