Job summary

Pertemps, in partnership with the Royal Mail, is recruiting Postal Delivery Workers in Newport East. You will start at the local delivery office, sort mail, then collect your vehicle or trolley and handheld device to deliver letters and parcels around your community.

Shifts are five days per week, Monday to Sunday, between 08:00 and 20:00. A full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 penalty points is required, plus a DBS check before starting.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing experience helpful but not essential.
• DBS security check required before commencing work.
• Full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 penalty points; IN/DD/DR/CD endorsements not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Sort mail at the local delivery office and prepare for the route.
• Deliver letters and parcels to the local community using vehicle or trolley.
• Use a handheld computer to track routes and mail details.

Due to an increase in demand, Pertemps are working in partnership with the Royal Mail to source Postal Delivery Workers to support with their busy operation.

Location:

Newport East

Shift:

5 days per week between Monday - Sunday between 08:00 - 20:00

Hourly Rate:

£13.69 per hour

About the role:

You'll start your day in the local delivery office, sorting and gathering the mail needed for your route. You will collect your allocated vehicle or trolley and your hand-held computer device (detailing your route and tracking your mail) and then deliver the letters and parcels to your local community.

About You:

• The ideal candidate for this role will be upbeat, self-motivated, and happy to work alone as well as part of a team.
• You will be helpful and approachable displaying a strong sense of community, as you get to know the people you meet on your round.
• Royal Mail deliver parcels whatever the weather, so you will enjoy working outdoors and due to the amount of walking required you will need to be relatively fit and healthy.
• You will be smartly presented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner.

Previous Experience:

• Some previous experience in a customer facing or delivery role would be ideal but not essential.
• You will be required to complete a full DBS security check prior to commencing work.
