Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking reliable individuals for local delivery rounds in Devon and Torbay. You will sort mail at the local office, collect your route and vehicle, and deliver letters and parcels to your community.

You will work confidently alone or with others, stay professional and courteous, and remain fit for outdoor walking in all weather. A DBS check and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Some customer-facing or delivery experience is encouraged.
• DBS security check required before starting work.
• Full UK manual driving licence with current address and up to 6 penalty points.

Job description

You'll start your day in the local delivery office, sorting and gathering the mail needed for your route. You will collect your allocated vehicle or trolley and your hand-held computer device (detailing your route and tracking your mail) and then deliver the letters and parcels to your local community.

• The ideal candidate for this role will be upbeat, self-motivated, and happy to work alone as well as part of a team.
• You will be helpful and approachable displaying a strong sense of community, as you get to know the people you meet on your round.
• Royal Mail deliver parcels whatever the weather, so you will enjoy working outdoors and due to the amount of walking required you will need to be relatively fit and healthy.
• You will be smartly presented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner.

Previous Experience:

• Some previous experience in a customer facing or delivery role would be ideal but not essential.
• You will be required to complete a full DBS security check prior to commencing work.

Driving licence requirements

• A full UK manual driving licence (in your current UK address)
• Maximum 6 penalty points
