Job summary

Swift in Stroud is seeking a reliable delivery assistant to start each day in the local sorting office, preparing mail for your round and loading your allocated vehicle.

You will deliver letters and parcels on foot and by vehicle, enjoy working outdoors in all weather, and present a smart, professional appearance while serving the community.

Qualifications

• Some previous experience in a customer-facing or delivery role would be ideal but not essential.
• You will be required to complete a full DBS security check prior to commencing work.

Responsibilities

• Sort and gather mail for your route and deliver letters and parcels to the local community.
• Use a hand-held computer device to detail your route and track mail.
• Work outdoors in all weather and maintain a professional, courteous manner.

Job description

You'll start your day in the local delivery office, sorting and gathering the mail needed for your route. You will collect your allocated vehicle or trolley and your hand-held computer device (detailing your route and tracking your mail) and then deliver the letters and parcels to your local community.

• The ideal candidate for this role will be upbeat, self-motivated, and happy to work alone as well as part of a team.
• You will be helpful and approachable displaying a strong sense of community, as you get to know the people you meet on your round.
• Royal Mail deliver parcels whatever the weather, so you will enjoy working outdoors and due to the amount of walking required you will need to be relatively fit and healthy.
• You will be smartly presented, always acting in a professional and courteous manner.

Previous Experience:

• A full UK manual driving licence (in your current UK address)
