Job summary

Driver Hire Preston are currently recruiting a Temporary 3.5T Driver / Warehouse Operative to support their busy operation in Chorley. The role combines driving with warehouse duties, with the workload shifting between deliveries and stock handling.

The ideal candidate will hold a UK Category B licence, be comfortable with nationwide deliveries and occasional overnight stays, and be reliable, punctual and physically fit for manual handling. Immediate start available.

Temporary 3.5T Driver / Warehouse Operative

Location: Chorley

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday

Duration: Temporary - now until Christmas

Driver Hire Preston are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a 3.5T Driver / Warehouse Operative to support their busy operation in the run-up to Christmas.

This is a varied position combining 3.5T driving with warehouse duties. The amount of driving will depend on the needs of the business, so we are looking for someone flexible who is happy to switch between driving and warehouse work.

During particularly busy weeks, you may be required to take an additional van out to assist with deliveries.

Driving Duties

The driving side of the role will include:

• Driving a 3.5T van and completing deliveries as required
• Multi-drop deliveries of kitchen appliances
• Delivering to trade premises and direct-to-site locations
• Completing kerbside deliveries, getting goods as close to the front door or delivery point as reasonably possible
• Nationwide driving, including overnight stays when required
• Loading and unloading the vehicle
• Completing relevant paperwork
• Carrying out vehicle checks
• Providing excellent customer service

Warehouse Duties

When you are not required to drive, you will work as part of the warehouse team. Duties will include:

• Helping to unload incoming deliveries
• Putting stock away in the correct locations
• Picking and preparing loads for company vans
• Making up pallets ready for collection and delivery by a pallet company
• Preparing customer orders ready for DPD collection
• General warehouse duties
• Keeping the warehouse clean, safe and organised
• Assisting the wider team wherever required

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a valid UK Category B driving licence
• Ideally have previous multi-drop driving experience
• Be happy working in a combined driving and warehouse role
• Be flexible regarding when driving duties are required
• Be comfortable with nationwide deliveries and overnight stays when required
• Be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
• Have a good work ethic and be willing to get involved with all aspects of the operation
• Be reliable and punctual
• Be aged 25 or over due to the client's vehicle insurance requirements

Pay & Hours

£12.71 per hour - Monday to Friday

This is a temporary position running from now until Christmas, making it ideal for someone looking for consistent work during a busy period.

For any required overnight driving, hotel accommodation and applicable overnight allowances will be provided.
