Job summary

HMRC Valuation Office is offering a sandwich-year placement for students pursuing a RICS-accredited degree aligned with valuation or the commercial pathway. The role provides real hands-on valuation exposure under supervision, delivering work that supports public service outcomes.

You will begin with own caseload tasks, develop professional skills, and enhance your APC readiness while working in a dynamic government valuation team.

Qualifications

• Be currently studying a RICS accredited undergraduate degree aligned to the valuation or commercial pathway with an agreed sandwich year.
• Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Exhibit strong analytical skills and sound judgement for decisions and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Value properties for Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating under guidance of surveyors.
• Apply academic learning to real property cases within current legislation and professional standards.
• Inspect properties, take measurements, and collect data to support valuations.
• Engage with customers and agents to discuss and review valuation cases.
• Manage your own caseload while collaborating with colleagues to meet deadlines.
• Keep up to date with market knowledge to support valuation decisions.
• Record 12 months of experience and Continuous Professional Development toward APC.
