Job summary

Principle are seeking a Senior UX / Product Designer for a 10-month contract in central London. You’ll shape complex, data-dense tools where clarity comes from design rigor rather than visuals.

Working with UX researchers and engineers, you’ll own end-to-end design, contribute to the design system, and craft experiences across desktop and mobile, with hybrid on-site work three days a week. This role requires explaining thorny problems and defending decisions in a small, senior team.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of UX/product/interaction design in complex tools.
• Deep experience with Figma to prototype and iterate.
• Portfolio demonstrates thinking, not only screens.
• Ability to explain thorny problems to cross-functional teams.
• Experience with user-research practices.
• Degree in design, UX, or related field.

Senior UX / Product Designer - Contract | Central London

A rare contract -PAYE seat has opened on the design team behind advertising and monetisation products used by businesses at global scale. £88,000 - and the work earns it.

This isn't consumer app design. You'll be shaping complex, data-dense tools, the kind where the craft isn't in making things look pretty, it's in making something genuinely intricate feel obvious. Small senior team, one seat, and a high bar for who fills it.

What you'll be doing

• Owning design end to end - turning real, messy user needs into clear journeys, mock-ups and prototypes that actually get built.
• Working closely with UX researchers to design for what users need, not what we assume they need.
• Sitting shoulder to shoulder with product and engineering, staying in the detail so what ships is what you drew.
• Helping the design system grow, so good decisions get made once and reused.
• Designing across both desktop and mobile.

What you'll bring

• 4-6 years in UX, product or interaction design, on complex or enterprise-grade tools rather than purely consumer work.
• Real depth in Figma - it's where you'll live.
• A portfolio that shows your thinking, not just your screens. Strong complex-tooling work from any domain counts; it needn't be advertising.
