Responsibilities

Hyreus is currently recruiting an experienced Utility Surveyor for a field-based opportunity in Tamworth. We're looking to speak with surveyors who have strong experience in utility surveying, underground service detection and the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out utility surveys across a range of sites, accurately locating and identifying underground services and producing high-quality survey data. This role will suit an experienced Utility Surveyor who enjoys working in the field and is confident operating specialist survey equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out utility surveys across a range of commercial, infrastructure and construction sites.
• Use GPR and other specialist survey equipment to detect and locate underground utilities.
• Identify and map underground services including water, gas, electric, telecommunications and drainage.
• Conduct electromagnetic detection and other utility detection techniques.
• Accurately collect, record and interpret field survey data.
• Produce accurate utility survey drawings and reports.
• Operate and maintain GPR and associated surveying equipment.
• Review existing plans, drawings and available utility records before undertaking site surveys.
• Identify potential risks and anomalies during surveys and report findings appropriately.
• Work closely with clients, project teams and other surveyors to ensure survey requirements are met.
• Maintain accurate site records and ensure all survey information is captured correctly.
• Follow relevant health and safety procedures and site requirements.
• Support wider surveying activities and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working as a Utility Surveyor or in a similar surveying role.
• Strong practical experience using GPR for underground utility detection is essential.
• Experience using electromagnetic detection equipment and other utility surveying techniques.
• Good understanding of underground utility networks and service detection.
• Ability to interpret utility records, drawings and survey information.
• Experience producing accurate survey data, drawings and reports.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to fieldwork.
• Good technical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
• Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients and site teams.
• Relevant surveying, utility detection or technical qualifications are advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
