Job summary

Profind Surveys Ltd, a UK-wide engineering and geospatial services company based in Tamworth, is seeking a on-site Utility Surveyor / GPR Surveyor in Birmingham. You will carry out PAS 128-compliant utility detection and mapping using GPR, and support topographical and engineering surveys.

You will plan site investigations, record survey data accurately, interpret subsurface utilities, and produce clear outputs for project teams.

Qualifications

• Competence in utility surveying including GPR, PAS 128 mapping, and underground tracing.
• Experience in topographical and engineering surveys with setting out and site measurements.
• Ability to process and interpret survey data using CAD, BIM or geospatial outputs.
• Strong health and safety awareness, ideally ISO 45001 aligned.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across Birmingham and the wider UK.
• Experience with laser scanning or UAV surveys is beneficial.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Utility Surveyor / GPR Surveyor role based in Birmingham. The role involves carrying out PAS 128-compliant utility detection and mapping using GPR and associated techniques, as well as supporting topographical and engineering surveys as required. Responsibilities include planning and undertaking site investigations, accurately recording survey data, interpreting subsurface utility information, and producing clear survey outputs for project teams. The Utility Surveyor / GPR Surveyor will collaborate with project managers, engineers and clients, ensure all work complies with company quality and safety standards, and contribute to the smooth delivery of construction and infrastructure projects. The role also requires regular travel to sites, safe operation and maintenance of survey equipment, and timely reporting of site findings and progress.

Qualifications

• Competence in utility surveying techniques, including GPR operation, PAS 128 utility detection and mapping, and underground utility tracing.
• Experience with topographical and engineering surveys, including setting out, site measurements and use of total stations or GNSS equipment.
• Ability to process and interpret survey data, with familiarity in CAD, BIM or geospatial data production for delivering clear technical drawings and reports.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices, preferably with experience working under ISO 45001 or similar safety management standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders on-site.
• Relevant qualification in surveying, civil engineering, geospatial or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across Birmingham and the wider UK as project needs require.
• Experience in laser scanning, UAV surveys, deformation monitoring or CCTV drainage surveys is beneficial but not essential.
