Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join Kier Design on a nationwide basis within the water sector. You will support design excellence across water company projects and advise clients on electricity, gas, water and telecoms infrastructure within an integrated delivery model.

The role requires a degree or equivalent, solid utility industry experience, and knowledge of the UK regulatory framework. Great communication with stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• As a utilities engineer you should have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in engineering, project management or similar.
• Solid understanding and experience in the utility industry, preferably in a B2B service delivery context for water clients.
• Experience in utility works including loading calculations, network reinforcement and design.
• Knowledge of the UK utility market and regulatory framework, including competition in connections and water sector frameworks.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead utility connection projects from concept to completion, managing timelines and budgets.
• Conduct due diligence, feasibility studies and design concept strategies for utility infrastructure.
• Act as main contact with utility providers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
• Identify and mitigate utility-related risks and advise on energy and water savings.
• Ensure adherence to regulations and quality standards while delivering value through project management.
