Job Description:

We are seeking a User Researcher for a permanent role with a leading global IT consultancy. The role offers up to £55,000 per annum, with a primarily remote work setup and occasional client visits. You will work with a public sector client, with an emphasis on GDS experience. Our client values user-centred design, critical thinking, problem solving, and digital service development.

As a User Researcher, you will:

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Developers, and other Researchers to plan and execute impactful research to understand user needs.
• Contribute to developing better products and services that address user problems.
• Lead research efforts, selecting appropriate methods to gather insights.
• Conduct qualitative studies such as interviews, observations, diary studies, concept testing, and usability testing.
• Utilize quantitative methods like surveys, working with analytics teams to derive actionable insights.
• Consider the entire user journey and external factors affecting user experience, including business, policy, and technical constraints.
• Present research findings and involve the team in analysis to foster empathy and evidence-based design decisions.
• Promote user-centred design and research best practices within teams and the wider organization.

Required skills and experience include:

• Proven experience leading user research using behavioral and attitudinal methods.
• Experience across various product lifecycle phases from discovery to delivery.
• Knowledge of GDS service standards and design principles.
• Strong storytelling, communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
• Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams influencing product design through insights.
• Familiarity with using prototypes for hypothesis testing and journey validation.
• Knowledge of tools and practices for in-person and remote research.
