Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Sales Manager in West Sussex to take ownership of the used vehicle operation, from sourcing stock to pricing and delivering to customers.

You will shape the strategy, grow the customer base and drive profitability across the lifecycle, with oversight of stock, margins and working capital. A strong commercial background in used vehicles is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in used vehicle sales, purchasing, re-marketing or a similar commercial role.
• Understanding of vehicle appraisals, valuations and pricing.
• Knowledge of stock aging, depreciation and working capital management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the used vehicle business plan and hit agreed sales and gross-profit targets.
• Source quality used minibuses, midi-coaches and specialist passenger vehicles.
• Manage appraisals, valuations, pricing and preparation costs.
• Build relationships with operators, fleets, local authorities, dealers, leasing and rental companies, and other industry contacts.
• Identify parts-exchange opportunities alongside the new vehicle sales team.
• Generate new business through existing databases, website inquiries, marketing activity and your own industry network.
• Monitor stock levels, stock age, margins and working capital.
• Collaborate with Workshop, Parts, Aftersales and Marketing to ensure vehicles are prepared and presented properly.
• Continuously review and improve processes behind the used vehicle operation.
