Job summary

Eaton is seeking UPS Commissioning Engineers to support the South East UK region. You will commission large UPS systems, ensuring optimum performance and safety in line with Eaton standards, and support hyperscale data centre environments.

Role involves on-site work, testing, commissioning scripting, remote monitoring setup, and clear communication with stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Educated to a HNC or higher in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Three-phase electrical installation or maintenance knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning of large UPS systems at customer sites.
• Understand on-line and line-interactive UPS configurations.
• Create commissioning scripts and perform site acceptance testing.
• Set up remote monitoring software and alarms.
• Use power quality meters and document findings in reports.
• Communicate technically with stakeholders and follow safety procedures.

In the UK, our Electrical division plays a critical role in supporting customers across key industries, including rapidly growing hyperscale data centre environments.

We are now looking for a number of UPS Commissioning Engineers to join our UK team, supporting South East region.

In this role, you will provide expert service to Eaton customers by commissioning large UPS systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in line with Eaton’s safety standards. You will play a key role supporting hyperscale data centres, delivering high-quality technical expertise across commissioning, testing and system configuration.

Candidates need to be based within South of the UK.

What You’ll Do

• Commissioning of large UPS systems.
• Ability to understand on-line and line-interactive UPS systems.
• Ability to understand and create commissioning scripts.
• Carry out site acceptance testing on customer sites.
• Ability to use and understand power quality meters.
• Experience in thermography and reporting.
• Battery experience – VRLA and Lithium Ion.
• You will setup and configure remote monitoring software.
• You will communicate with key stakeholders on a technical level.
• Applies anti-static policies and procedures.
• Applies ECN process to all repairs.

Qualifications

• Educated to a HNC or higher in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent

Skills

• Possessing three phase electrical installation or maintenance knowledge
• A good understanding of UPS systems is preferred
• Knowledgeable of industrial communication protocols such as: Modbus, SNMP, OPC, DDE , TCP/IP
• Knowledgeable of programming of PLC control systems (power control, generator control, SCADA or process control)
