Job summary

Hillbourne Primary School is seeking a Teaching Assistant for its Upper KS2 base, supporting pupils with EHCPs on a fixed-term contract from January 2027 to August 2028. The role focuses on supporting the class teacher, working with individuals or small groups to develop learning and independence, and contributing to planning reviews.

The post is 17.5 hours per week during term time, Monday to Friday mornings, 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Qualifications

• Enhanced criminal record and barred list check.
• Scrutiny of work and training history, references and other vetting checks.
• Online searches.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with EHCPs in the Upper KS2 base.
• Support the teacher by working with individuals or groups to support learning and development.
• Work with whole classes, smaller groups or particular pupils with specific requirements.
• Help children clarify instructions, encourage independent learning and achieve learning targets.
• Build supportive, caring and secure relationships that promote respect, self-esteem and an inclusive ethos.
• Manage behaviour fairly and consistently in line with school policies and procedures.
• Contribute to evaluation, review and planning with the teacher, Inclusion Lead and support team.
• Work as part of a team under the general direction of the Headteacher or Inclusion Leader.
