Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Unscheduled Care Team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, a category B Prison located in London. In this role you will provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without compromising on efficiency and quality.

Shift Pattern

Hours: 24‑hour service. Days: 07:30 – 19:45. Nights: 19:45 – 07:30. Predominantly working days, night shifts required to cover sickness and annual leave. Expected maximum of 2 weekends per month.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients and undertake reception screening.
  • Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise care.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
Qualifications
  • NMC Registered Nurse Adult.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
  • A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential).

Salary

This position is full time. Annual salary up to £55,086 per annum – depending on experience.
