Job Description:

Nexus Underwriting Ltd is seeking to hire an enthusiastic, analytical, and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant. The successful applicant will support the Aviation & Marine team in writing business for the company, liaising with various departments and Brokers in the marketplace.

The role involves providing high-quality administrative support, managing inboxes, logging risks, liaising with Brokers, maintaining underwriting systems and document repositories, and other administrative tasks assigned by the team and Directors.

This position is ideal for someone interested in becoming a valuable part of an underwriting team. Previous experience is required.

Responsibilities:
  • Processing firm orders and bound risks onto underwriting systems;
  • Processing endorsements and MTA’s, including AP’s, RP’s, amendments, and letters of appointment;
  • Accurate input of technical risks from slips;
  • Extracting documentation from the IMR (Insurance Market Repository);
  • Administering technical processing matters, including insurance tax application;
  • Liaising with Xchanging and Brokers on premium signing queries;
  • Managing documentation, including scanning, recording, and filing;
  • Matching technical Xchanging messages to slips and endorsements;
  • Working with Credit Control to chase aged debt and entering premium credit risks;
  • Supporting analysis, preparation, and execution of Binder renewals;
  • Reporting progress against KPIs;
  • Performing ad hoc duties to support the Underwriters;
  • Adhering to Nexus Brand and code of conduct at all times.
Experience:
  • Experience working with Xchanging is essential;
  • Enthusiastic, hardworking, and service-oriented individual;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment, meeting tight deadlines;
  • High attention to detail and accurate record keeping;
  • Problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn;
  • Integrity and professionalism to build trust;
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one Underwriting system;
  • Ideally educated to A level or equivalent, with strong results in numeracy and English.
