Job summary

Acorn Insurance in Formby, near Liverpool, is seeking an Underwriter to support clients and agents, convert new business, and service existing accounts. You will work 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, with hybrid working options and a competitive salary of £30,000 per annum.

Responsibilities include rating of new business and renewals, motor trade risk assessment, and ensuring FCA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Respond to client and agent enquiries courteously and gather required information.
• Rate new business and renewal risks within Haven's parameters.
• Assess Motor Trade risks and negotiate rates to secure profitable business.
• Keep quotations, logs and folders accurate and up to date.
• Ensure FCA regulations are followed and escalate out-of-authority cases with rationale.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in the insurance industry? We are currently recruiting for an underwriter to join our team! As an underwriter, your main mission will be to provide exceptional support to our clients and agents, ensuring the conversion of new business. This will also include servicing existing accounts and meeting retention targets. Communication is key in this role as you will be dealing with enquiries via email, telephone, virtually and on occasions face-to-face. You will also be expected to carry out any additional tasks instructed by your Head of department.

What you’ll be doing

• Respond to enquiries from clients and agents in a courteous and helpful manner, ensuring that all information required is obtained and communicated
• You will be responsible for rating of new Business and renewal risks working within parameters set out by Haven
• Assessing Motor Trade risks and negotiate rates and terms within authority to secure profitable business
• Ensuring that all quotations logs and folders are kept accurate and up to date
• Confidentiality assisting other team members when required
• To keep the department working environment safe and ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to and any issues are reported to your head of department
• To ensure compliance with FCA regulations as laid down and notified by the company, referring case outside authority promptly with clear rationale and recommendations

• Always providing excellent customer service when speaking to clients and agents always upholding the company values
