Job summary

Diamond Turning Technician (Fabricator) role in Blaby, near Leicester, offers £28,000-£35,000 per annum plus an annual bonus and shift allowance. You will set up and operate ultra-precision diamond turning machinery, achieving micron and sub-micron tolerances with exceptional surface finish.

You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, perform in-process inspections, and maintain traceability and quality documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating single-point diamond turning or CNC lathes.
• Ability to achieve micron/sub-micron tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using precision metrology equipment and inspection techniques.
• Familiarity with SOPs, process sheets and controlled documentation.
• Understanding of TPM and preventative maintenance concepts.
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
• Capable of working independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and optimise diamond turning machines for precision parts.
• Interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
• Manufacture components to micron tolerances and inspect using metrology tools.
• Install tooling, fixtures and machine parameters for production.
• Verify setup and process parameters before manufacture.
• Produce first-offs and in-process inspections for conformity.
• Monitor performance and adjust processes to maintain quality.
• Inspect finished components and ensure traceability.
• Maintain SOPs, work instructions and manufacturing records.
