Job summary

AM Global in Leicester is seeking a Single Point Diamond Turning Technician to manufacture precision infrared and visible optical components. You will set, operate and optimise diamond turning machines to achieve micron and sub-micron tolerances with exceptional surface finishes.

You will interpret engineering drawings, select tooling and verify process parameters, carrying out in-process inspections and ensuring traceability and strict quality standards throughout the build.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating SPDT or CNC lathe machinery.
• Manufacturing precision components to micron and sub-micron tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using precision metrology and inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of TPM principles and preventative maintenance requirements.
• Understanding of process documentation, SOPs and controlled work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate and optimise diamond turning machines to manufacture precision optical components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation accurately.
• Manufacture components to micron and sub-micron tolerances and maintain surface quality requirements.
• Select and install tooling, fixtures and machine parameters for production activities.
• Verify set up, tooling condition and process parameters before manufacture.
• Produce first off components and conduct in-process inspections for conformity.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust processes to maintain quality and repeatability.
• Inspect finished components with precision metrology equipment.
• Maintain full traceability and complete process sheets and production records.
• Follow SOPs and TPM practices, contributing to continuous improvement.
