Job summary

Automation Experts is seeking a Robotics Field Service Engineer for nationwide field work with a strong workshop component. You will diagnose and repair robotic systems, primarily ABB, FANUC, and KUKA, across customer sites and our Bedfordshire workshop.

The role requires hands-on fault-finding, component replacement, and proactive support to minimise downtime. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential, with overtime opportunities and a company van provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial robotics, automation, maintenance or field service engineering.
• Practical fault-finding and repair of robotic systems.
• Knowledge of ABB and FANUC robots and their controllers.
• KUKA experience would be a significant advantage.
• Confident diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and identifying faulty components.
• Able to distinguish robot faults from PLC or automation equipment issues.
• Understanding of industrial control systems and manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on approach to repairs and part replacement.
• Strong problem-solving and independent working skills.
• Customer-focused communication and driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out on-site fault-finding, repairs and maintenance on industrial robotic systems.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and robot faults to identify root causes.
• Replace faulty components and restore robotics to full operation.
• Service and maintain ABB, FANUC and KUKA robots.
• Support customers with breakdowns and technical issues to minimise downtime.
• Determine whether faults originate in robot, PLC, or automation equipment.
• Test components in workshop to ensure parts are ready for dispatch.
• Assist with spare parts and other workshop duties when not on-site.
• Provide technical support and respond to service requests from customers.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate records.
