Job summary

Nurseplus UK Ltd is expanding its data engineering capability. This role focuses on owning the data environment, building scalable pipelines, and aligning data architecture with reporting and analytics needs.

You will collaborate with the technology team to design cloud-native solutions, ensure data reliability and security, and enable business intelligence across reporting and digital products. The position is remote-first within the UK, with occasional on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms, managed databases, storage and orchestration services.
• Advanced SQL and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, API integrations and automated data processes.
• Experience with BI including DAX, Power Query and semantic model design.
• Experience with ORM such as Entity Framework Core.
• Strong understanding of data security and authentication (OAuth 2.0, SAML, encryption).
• Experience with cloud cost optimisation and monitoring.
• Proven experience designing cloud-native data solutions.
• Experience with complex multi-system data integrations.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Experience remediating and improving existing/inherited infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of our cloud data environment, identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Design and implement scalable data storage, structures and cloud solutions.
• Build automated ETL/ELT pipelines and integrations between operational systems, third-party platforms and internal applications.
• Develop reliable data models and layered data structures to support consistent reporting and analytics.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, including query and index optimisation.
• Establish data governance, security, backup, disaster recovery and audit processes.
• Build and maintain data marts and semantic models supporting business intelligence and reporting.
• Develop and maintain APIs and data services supporting core applications and mobile solutions.
• Implement monitoring, scheduling and alerting to ensure data pipelines remain reliable.
• Work closely with developers, analysts and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
• Maintain clear technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data flows, ER diagrams and architecture decisions.
