Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting an experienced Primary School Caretaker to support a welcoming primary school in Manchester. The role requires hands-on caretaker experience within a UK school environment and involves site opening, daily checks, basic maintenance, health and safety checks, and coordinating with contractors.

The ideal candidate has over 6 months’ UK school caretaker experience and understands safeguarding. DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Must have more than 6 months' experience working as a Caretaker within a UK school.
• Previous primary school experience is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of school site procedures and health and safety.
• Confident carrying out general maintenance and practical tasks.
• Able to work independently and use initiative.
• Reliable, organised and proactive.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional approach to safeguarding and site security.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site.
• Carrying out daily checks of the school buildings and grounds.
• Completing general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring the school environment is safe, secure and well maintained.
• Responding to maintenance issues and arranging repairs where required.
• Managing site security, access and deliveries.
• Carrying out health and safety checks.
• Supporting contractors and visitors attending the school.
• Preparing rooms and areas for school activities.
• Assisting with general site and facilities duties.
• Reporting safeguarding, security or health and safety concerns.
