Aspire People are recruiting an experienced Primary School Caretaker to support a welcoming primary school in Ashton-under-Lyne. The role is full-time and long-term, with duties including opening and securing the school site and daily site checks.

Applicants must have UK school caretaker experience of more than 6 months and be able to work independently, with a focus on safety, safeguarding and practical maintenance. DBS enhanced check is preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Primary School Caretaker

Aspire People are recruiting an experienced Primary School Caretaker to support a welcoming primary school.

This role is specifically for candidates who have hands-on experience working as a Caretaker within a UK school environment.

IMPORTANT: Candidates MUST have worked as a Caretaker within a UK school for more than 6 months. Candidates without UK school-based caretaker experience will not be considered.

The Role:

• Opening and securing the school site
• Carrying out daily checks of the school buildings and grounds
• Completing general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school environment is safe, secure and well maintained
• Responding to maintenance issues and arranging repairs where required
• Managing site security, access and deliveries
• Carrying out health and safety checks
• Supporting contractors and visitors attending the school
• Preparing rooms and areas for school activities
• Assisting with general site and facilities duties
• Reporting any safeguarding, security or health and safety concerns

The Ideal Candidate:

• MUST have more than 6 months' experience working as a Caretaker within a UK school
• Previous primary school experience is highly desirable
• Good understanding of school site procedures and health and safety
• Confident carrying out general maintenance and practical tasks
• Able to work independently and use initiative
• Reliable, organised and proactive
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional approach to safeguarding and site security
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
