Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting an experienced School Caretaker to work within a school in Stockport, SK4. The role covers daily site checks, security duties and basic repairs to keep the building safe and ready for staff and pupils.

Candidates must have prior caretaker/site experience in a school or similar setting and hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. Immediate start and long-term assignment with weekly pay are offered.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site as required.
• Complete daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.

• Support contractors and maintenance visits as needed.
• Respond to site issues and report larger repairs.
• Assist with moving equipment, furniture and deliveries.

Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to work within a school in Stockport, SK4.

This role is only suitable for candidates with previous caretaker/site experience within a school or similar setting who already hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. Applicants without both of these requirements will not be considered.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will support the safe, secure and effective day-to-day running of the school site. You will complete general maintenance, site checks, security duties and basic repairs while ensuring the school remains clean, safe and ready for staff and pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site where required.
• Complete daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of the building, grounds and facilities.
• Support contractors and maintenance visits where required.
• Respond to site issues and report larger repairs appropriately.
• Assist with moving equipment, furniture and deliveries.
• Maintain safe access routes and external areas.
• Follow school safeguarding, security and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Site Assistant or similar is essential.
• Experience must be within a school or similar facilities/site environment.
• You must currently hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Applicants without a DBS on the Update Service will not be considered.
• You must have practical maintenance and basic repair skills.
• You should have a good understanding of site security and health and safety.
• You must be reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
