Join to apply for the UK Environment & Sustainability Manager role at AXA UK

Are you an expert in Climate and Sustainability, with a passion for driving meaningful change through influencing decision-making at senior levels? AXA UK is seeking an Environment & Sustainability Manager to deliver our Climate & ESG strategy across the UK Property, Procurement & Operations (PP&O) function. You’ll lead the implementation and management of initiatives to improve the environmental performance of the UK Property estate, General Expenses (GenEx), & IT Expenses supply chain, and wider operational activities. You’ll collaborate with Group and other AXA entities to roll out ‘best practice’ methodology, supporting AXA’s ambitious Climate targets.

At AXA, we promote flexible working, allowing at least 40% of your week away from home, with a move towards majority remote work from September 2025. Work locations include our offices in Bristol, Bolton, Ipswich, or Manchester, or visiting clients and industry events. Flexible arrangements can be discussed with Talent Acquisition.

What you’ll be doing:
  1. Implement PP&O Climate initiatives and manage the submission of UK operational climate metrics to meet Group targets and regulatory requirements such as CSRD and SECR, including CFO sign-off where necessary.
  2. Serve as the primary contact for AXA UK for Group, business teams (Finance, HR, IT), and external stakeholders on Climate & ESG matters affecting the PP&O function.
  3. Deliver presentations, build relationships, and maintain market knowledge on sustainability topics.
  4. Manage a Sustainable Procurement Analyst (direct report) to support initiatives like reducing Scope 3.1 emissions, increasing inclusive & diverse third-party spend, and their development through performance management and coaching.
  5. Oversee procurement and management of utilities and relationships with energy suppliers, consultants, and brokers.
  6. Collaborate with the Data & Reporting team to maintain a climate metrics database supporting reporting and environmental initiatives.
What you’ll bring:
  1. Relevant degree or equivalent in Environmental Management, Climate & ESG (UK undergraduate or similar).
  2. Membership of IEMA or Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 is desirable but not essential.
  3. Strong communication and presentation skills, with assertiveness to influence senior stakeholders.
  4. Networking skills to engage stakeholders, suppliers, and external parties.
  5. Good understanding of legislation such as CSRD and ESOS.
  6. Ability to analyze data and derive insights from Climate & ESG databases.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PowerBI is advantageous.
  8. Experience in Property & Operations processes, driving change, and navigating ambiguous situations.

Eligibility to work in the UK is a precondition for employment.
