Job summary

Sleek in the UK seeks a diligent bookkeeper to support growing UK SME clients. You will prepare bookkeeping, VAT returns and draft year end accounts under the supervision of a Senior Accountant, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

You’ll work in a pod of five and may advance to draft year end accounts and CT600s. This role offers remote work with UK hours and requires residency in India or the Philippines with right to work.

Qualifications

• A degree in commerce, accounting or finance (for example B.Com or BS Accountancy).
• At least 2 years in accounting, including at least 1 on UK clients: bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and VAT returns.
• Confident with Xero, QuickBooks or a similar cloud accounting package.
• Written English good enough to email UK clients directly.
• Based in India or the Philippines, with the right to work there.
• Able to work a shift that overlaps UK business hours.

Responsibilities

• Keep clients’ books up to date in Xero: bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledgers, and month and year end adjustments.
• Prepare VAT returns under Making Tax Digital for review.
• Prepare draft year end accounts and, as you grow, corporation tax returns.
• Check your own work before sending it for review, and act on corrections.
• Chase clients early for missing records, and tell your Senior Accountant in good time when a deadline is at risk.
• Keep client records and workflow data accurate.
• Use the AI tools we are building into our products and workflow
