Job summary

Veracity Group in the United Kingdom is seeking an Accountant/Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. You will handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and ledgers using Xero, Sage and Dext, ensuring accuracy across all client accounts.

The role focuses on VAT compliance, management reporting, and collaboration with clients to deliver insights. Part qualification in CA/CIMA/ACCA preferred; 2–3 years' experience in UK accounting is ideal.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily financial records in Xero and Sage
• Process bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions
• Manage ledgers, invoicing, supplier payments, and credit control with Dext
• Record payroll journals from internal systems or providers
• Post month-end accruals, prepayments and other journals
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts incl intercompany
• Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts and budgets
• Support clients with financial insights and performance analysis

About the job Accountant/Senior Accountant UK

Bookkeeping and Transaction Management

• Maintain accurate records of daily financial transactions using Xero and Sage.
• Process and reconcile bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions.
• Manage sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing, supplier payments, and credit control, using Dext.
• Record payroll journals from internal systems or external payroll providers.
• Post accruals, prepayments, and other month-end journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including control and intercompany accounts.

VAT and Compliance

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC's Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
• Ensure correct VAT treatment for transactions, including reverse charge and other applicable rules.
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for VAT compliance.

Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts including:
  • Profit and Loss Statement
  • Balance Sheet
  • Cash Flow Forecasts
  • Budget vs Actual variance reports
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with internal teams and clients.
• Support clients with financial insights and performance analysis.

The Person

• Fully or part qualified in CA / CIMA / ACCA
• 2–3 years experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, ideally within a UK accountancy firm.
• Proficient in Xero, Sage, Dext, and advanced Excel.
• Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and general compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly.
• Knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105 is an added advantage.
