NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board is recruiting for a UEC & SCC Manager (NHS AfC: Band 7) in Warrington. The role supports the System Coordination Centre to sustain operational resilience and deliver major transformation programmes for 2.7+ million people across Cheshire and Merseyside.

You will work across NHS providers, local authorities and ambulance services to lead improvements in patient flow, discharge planning, and urgent care transformation, with a 7-day rota including

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience.
  • Knowledge of UEC Operations and SCC functions.
  • Experience coordinating projects in complex environments.
  • Experience drafting briefing papers and correspondence.
  • Familiarity with Prince 2 and MS Project.

Responsabilités

  • Lead day-to-day coordination of the Cheshire and Merseyside System Coordination Centre.
  • Support system partners during operational pressure and escalation.
  • Drive improvement programmes on patient flow, care coordination, discharge, and urgent care transformation.
  • Monitor system performance and risks, turning insight into action.
  • Produce reports, briefings and analysis for senior leaders.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated UEC & SCC Manager to join the Cheshire and Merseyside Urgent and Emergency Care Team. This exciting role sits at the heart of the System Coordination Centre (SCC), supporting both day-to-day operational resilience and the delivery of major transformation programmes across a population of more than 2.7 million people

This is a fast-paced, high-profile role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with NHS providers, local authorities, ambulance services, primary care, community services and NHS England to support operational resilience, manage system pressures, and deliver major improvement programmes.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination of the Cheshire and Merseyside System Coordination Centre.
  • Support system partners during periods of operational pressure and escalation.
  • Drive improvement programmes focused on patient flow, care coordination, hospital discharge, admission avoidance and urgent care transformation.
  • Monitor system performance, risks and operational pressures, turning insight into action.
  • Produce high-quality reports, briefings, and analysis for senior leaders.
  • Support delivery of key priorities including ambulance handovers, four-hour performance, length of stay reduction and corridor care improvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for someone who:

Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • Able to work a rota covering 7 days including weekends and public holidays
  • Educated to post-graduate level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Knowledge and expertise of UEC Operations and SCC functions
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project
Skills
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals. Skills for managing relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
