Job summary

Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an Emergency Practitioner Band 7 in the Urgent Treatment Centre. The role offers autonomous practice with leadership responsibilities, across hospital and community settings in south London.

You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients across ages, mentor UCPs, and work toward high-quality, evidence-based care. Cross-site working with Kingston Hospital is available.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or paramedic with UK registration.
  • Accident and emergency course or equivalent.
  • IRMER qualification and XR interpretation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver autonomous, high-quality, patient-centred care in UTC.
  • Lead by example in line with Trust values.
  • Identify tests and interpret results, including labs and radiography.
  • Mentor and supervise trainee UCPs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to drive quality improvement.

Job overview

Are you ready to take the lead in autonomously assessing, investigating, diagnosing, treating, and expertly caring for patients at the Urgent Treatment Centre?

If yes, join our collaborative UTC team, where you'll actively contribute to meeting patients' diverse needs, championing the seamless delivery of policies and procedures, and providing invaluable nurse leadership when it matters most. As the post holder, you'll engage in comprehensive assessment, treatment, care, and education for patients of all ages, ensuring a high-quality patient-centred service.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an experienced staff group at Richmond Urgent Treatment Centre who will help develop and grow this already high performing service.

This post will also offer the exciting opportunity for cross site working with our partner UTC based at Kingston Hospital.

Main duties of the job

As the post holder, you'll embark on a journey of autonomous practice, consistently delivering high-quality, timely, and patient-centred care that makes a real difference.

Your will lead by example, making sure that every moment of care, aligns with our Trust's core values.

In addition, your sharp expertise will shine as you identify the need for essential diagnostic tests and expertly interpret their results, including laboratory and radiography investigations.

But that's not all! You'll also play a pivotal role in mentoring and supervising trainee UCPs, offering support and dynamic line management when required.

Collaboration is at the heart of your role, working seamlessly with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure our care practices are evidence-based and continuously pushing the boundaries of excellence through innovative quality improvement programs.

Qualifications

Experience
  • Experience in autonomous practice, diagnosis and management of minor illness and injuries
  • Paediatric safeguarding, experience with paediatric patients > 1 year old
  • Primary care experience
Skills
  • Clear understanding of acute performance targets and ability to identifying opportunities to improve service delivery
  • Assessment skills, Resuscitation skills and Triage competent
Knowledge
  • In depth understanding of local and national issues relating to Urgent Treatment Centre.
  • Up to date knowledge of DH and NICE guidance
