Senior Unified Communications Consultant – Microsoft Teams Voice & Avaya Migration

Location: Remote (UK-based preferred) with occasional customer site visits

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Unified Communications Consultant to lead and deliver a full discovery and transformation report for migrating an enterprise Avaya on-premise telephony environment to Microsoft Teams Voice. The successful candidate will produce a comprehensive consulting report detailing current architecture, Teams deployment options, migration stages, risks, costs, and post-migration support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead discovery workshops with client stakeholders across IT, Network, Telephony, and Security domains.
• Assess the existing Avaya telephony architecture, including PBXs, call routing, SBCs, integrations, and trunking.
• Map current architecture to target Microsoft Teams architecture using Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Calling Plans.
• Evaluate the pros, cons, and use cases for each Teams Voice deployment option.
• Identify dependencies, gaps, risks, and organizational readiness for cloud telephony.
• Develop a staged migration strategy with timelines, costs, and technical steps.
• Build a detailed report including an executive summary, key recommendations, migration stages, risks, architecture evolution, integrations, commercial impact, ROI forecast, and appendices with diagrams and artifacts.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale PBX to Microsoft Teams Voice migrations.
• Deep knowledge of Avaya systems and telephony infrastructure.
• Expertise in Microsoft Teams Voice ecosystem and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience producing high-standard, customer-facing consulting artifacts.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Certifications: Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer Expert (MS-720) and Avaya certifications (ACSS, ACIS).
• Experience with compliance voice recording platforms and service transition frameworks (ITIL, TOGAF).
