Senior Unified Communications Consultant – Microsoft Teams Voice & Avaya Migration

Location: Remote (UK-based preferred) with occasional customer site visits

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Unified Communications Consultant to lead and deliver a full discovery and transformation report for the migration of an enterprise Avaya on-premise telephony environment to Microsoft Teams Voice. The successful candidate will produce a comprehensive consulting report detailing current architecture, Teams deployment options, migration stages, risks, and post-migration support strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead discovery workshops with client stakeholders across IT, Network, Telephony, and Security.
• Assess existing Avaya telephony architecture, including PBXs, call routing, SBCs, integrations, and trunking.
• Map current architecture to Microsoft Teams using Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Calling Plans.
• Evaluate deployment options for Teams Voice relevant to the customer.
• Identify dependencies, gaps, risks, and organizational readiness.
• Develop a staged migration strategy with timelines and costs.
• Prepare a detailed report including:
• - Executive summary and benefits
• - Recommendations and migration stages
• - Integration details and compliance considerations
• - Commercial model and ROI
• - Appendices with diagrams, BOM, capacity planning, and vendor comparisons

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in enterprise PBX to Microsoft Teams Voice migration.
• Deep knowledge of Avaya systems and telephony infrastructure.
• Expertise in Microsoft Teams Voice ecosystem.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and integrations.
• Experience producing high-quality customer-facing reports and artefacts.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
• Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer Expert certification (MS-720) or equivalent.
• Avaya certifications (ACSS, ACIS) or similar.
• Experience with compliance voice recording platforms.
• Knowledge of service transition frameworks like ITIL or TOGAF.
