Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting an SEN Tutor to cover Key Stage 2 and 3 in Houghton Le Spring and wider County Durham. You will deliver bespoke 1:1 sessions to re-engage learners with English and Maths, tailored to SEMH, ASC and other needs.

Sessions are conducted in community settings or learners' homes, with ongoing CPD and access to teaching resources. The role starts November 2026 and offers up to £30 per hour (DOE) and up to 15 hours per week per student.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring SEN learners (KS2 or KS3).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply).
• Two years of verifiable references.

1 SEN Tutor - Key Stage 2 & 3 Houghton Le Spring

Prospero Teaching is expanding its specialist support across Houghton Le Spring and the wider County Durham area, providing tailored one-to-one SEN tuition for pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education. Working closely with local authorities, SEND teams, and educational partners, we are committed to ensuring every learner receives the personalised support they need.

We are currently recruiting experienced SEN Tutors with a background in supporting Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 learners who present with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASC, and additional learning difficulties.

What the Role Involves

You will be responsible for planning and delivering bespoke, individual tuition sessions aimed at re-engaging learners with education, building confidence, and developing essential skills in English and Maths.

Sessions are delivered in person and may take place in community settings, alternative provisions, or within the learner's home environment.

Position Details

• Pay: up to 30 per hour (DOE)

• Hours: up to 15 per week per student
