Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a SEN Tutor in Gateshead to deliver 1:1 or small group tuition for students with SEN. You will plan tailored lessons, support learning and help pupils rebuild confidence during school hours, with flexibility for 6–15 hours per week per pupil.

Experience in UK classrooms or relevant child education qualifications is required; creativity, patience and ability to handle diverse SEN needs are essential. Regular progress reports will be submitted.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

SEN Tutor - Gateshead

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEN teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEN Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Gateshead area.

The Opportunity

As a SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 lessons that are tailored to each individual student. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support the pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine and continue their educational development until a suitable placement is found.

The tuition is replacing school for these young people and each individual is commissioned for a certain amount of hours, taking place during school hours, five days a week. Prospero will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports. We can accommodate both part time and full time hours.

Contract/Position Details:

Location - Gateshead

Start date - ASAP

Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)

Contract type - Temporary

Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student

Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)
