Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Tutor to support pupils in Peterlee through 1:1 or small group sessions. The role involves delivering tailored lessons during school hours, either at the pupil's home or in a community learning hub.

You will plan and adapt activities, monitor progress, and submit weekly progress reports. Candidates may be experienced tutors, teachers, or those with a therapeutic background; right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS are required.

SEN Tutor - Peterlee

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEN teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEN Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Peterlee area.

The Opportunity

As a SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 lessons that are tailored to each individual student. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support the pupil in their learning, offer structure back into the daily routine and continue their educational development until a suitable placement is found.

The tuition is replacing school for these young people and each individual is commissioned for a certain amount of hours, taking place during school hours, five days a week. Prospero will work with you closely to monitor the progression with each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports. We can accommodate both part time and full time hours.

• Location - Peterlee Area
• Position - SEN Tutor

• Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
• Contract type - Temporary
• Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
• Rate of pay - up to £30 per hour (negotiable)

Your role with us:

• Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEN, focusing on building confidence, teaching life skills, how to safely access the community, simple cooking and fostering independence
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
