Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking experienced QTS tutors to support two learners with SEND/SEMH. Sessions will cover Maths and English, with potential science support as hours increase. The role includes home-based tutoring (NG8 and NG5) and may expand to additional locations or enrichment sessions.

Student 1 is a Y10 learner with anxiety and autism; Student 2 is a Y11 learner with gaps in schooling. Both require alignment with school schemes of work where appropriate.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential.
• Experience with children in educational settings.

• Calm, patient and understanding demeanor.
• Ability to work 1:1 and in small groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to one or two learners (1:1 and small groups).
• Follow school schemes of work where appropriate.
• Deliver sessions at learners' homes (NG8) and other locations as needed.
• Assist with enrichment activities and potential additional hours.

Job description

Tutor - QTS

We are currently working closely with a tuition provider who is looking for experienced, committed and passionate tutor/s to support one or two children who have SEND or SEMH.

Student 1:

• A QTS tutor with extensive experience working with extremely anxious learners to work with an autistic Y10 learner who has missed a lot of school
• 2 hours/week to begin with (1 hour, twice a week) at learner's home in NG8, with the potential for more hours, dependent on how the learner responds to the tuition
• Maths and English required, with science also need if/when hours are increased
• Tutor will need to work with school s scheme of work, where appropriate

Student 2:

• A QTS tutor/two QTS tutors to work with an autistic Y11 learner who has missed ample school
• 4 hours on a Monday and Tuesday, located at learner's home in NG5 and nearby quiet public locations, and potentially, over time, additional locations where enrichment excursions take place
• Maths and English required, with the ability to support science a plus
• Tutor will need to work with school s scheme of work, where appropriate

We are looking for someone to support with one or both students.

In order to be successful for this role you must have:

• A Qualified teacher status is essential
• Experience working with children in an educational setting
• Experience working with children with SEND/SEMH
• Knowledge and the ability to tutor Maths and/or English
• A passion for working closely with children in a relevant setting.
• Ability to stay calm and patient and understanding.
• Ability to work with the students both 121 and in small groups.
