Job summary

1st Staff in Ipswich is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Tutor to support pupils in the local area. You will deliver in-home tuition during school hours, tailoring sessions to individual learning needs and emotional wellbeing.

This role offers flexible hours, with 2–3 hours per day, 5 days a week, starting September. We welcome applicants with SEN/SEMH experience and a patient, adaptable approach, and you may progress to longer-term roles.

1st Staff are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutor to support students in the Ipswich area who have been out of education for a period of time. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping students rebuild their confidence, develop key skills, and work towards recognised qualifications — with the potential to return to mainstream or further education.

The Role

You will deliver personalised tuition sessions in the student’s home, tailoring your approach to meet individual learning needs and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, bespoke 1:1 sessions
• Support students in core subjects (Maths, English, and other key areas as required)
• Build positive, trusting relationships
• Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning styles
• Support students with SEN, SEMH, and challenging behaviours

• Location: Student’s home & local library
• Role: 1:1 Tutor
• Hours: 2/3 hours per day, 5 days per week (during school hours) per student
