Job summary

Academics is seeking experienced tutors to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs across Camden. You will deliver engaging, personalised tuition, adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs, monitor progress and work with parents, schools and other professionals to help learners grow academically and confidently.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Experience providing tutoring, teaching, mentoring or educational support.
  • The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners.

£40 - £45 per hour

We are looking for experienced and dedicated Tutors to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs across Camden

This is an excellent opportunity for passionate tutors who want to make a genuine difference to the educational development, confidence and wellbeing of young people.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging, personalised tuition to children and young people with SEN.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support learners to develop their academic skills, confidence and independence.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools and other professionals where appropriate.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Adapt teaching approaches according to the learner's needs and learning style.
  • Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support learners who may have gaps in their education or require additional educational support.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Experience providing tutoring, teaching, mentoring or educational support.
  • A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and different learning requirements.
  • The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive approach.
  • The ability to build strong professional relationships with children and young people.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • A professional and reliable approach.
  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs would be advantageous.
  • This may include working with young people with Autism/ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties, complex learning needs or behavioural needs.
  • Experience supporting learners with anxiety, barriers to education, gaps in education or school refusal would also be beneficial.
What We Offer
  • We offer £40-£45.00 per hour, with tutoring opportunities available across Camden.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
