Job summary

ERS Education is seeking an experienced SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition to a pupil in Romford, within Havering. The role runs 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 1:00pm, at the pupil's care home.

You should have QTS or significant SEN experience; DBS checks; ability to plan lessons aligned with EHCP targets; strong communication with carers and Local Authority SEND teams. This is a part-time ongoing tuition placement.

Qualifications

  • QTS or significant experience as SEN Tutor/Teacher.
  • Experience supporting pupils with complex SEND (ASD/SEMH/PMLD/trauma desirable).
  • Enhanced DBS current or willingness to obtain; working with EHCP targets.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition tailored to the pupil's needs.
  • Plan lessons in line with EHCP targets and learning profile.
  • Track progress and provide updates/reports.
  • Build a safe, positive relationship with the pupil.
  • Create an engaging, supportive learning environment.
  • Liaise with parents, LA SEND team and other professionals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding compliance.
  • Work independently and adapt teaching to pupil needs.

About the Role

ERS Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition to a pupil in Romford, within the London Borough of Havering.


This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate education professional to make a meaningful difference to a young person who requires an individualised approach to learning and support.


The successful tutor will deliver 15 hours of tuition per week, Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, at the pupil's care home.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Delivering structured 1:1 tuition tailored to the pupil's individual needs

  • Planning and delivering lessons in line with the pupil's EHCP, learning profile and identified targets

  • Tracking and recording progress and providing regular updates and reports as required

  • Building a safe, positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

  • Creating an engaging and supportive learning environment

  • Liaising with parents/carers, the Local Authority SEND team and other professionals where required

  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Working independently and adapting your teaching approach according to the pupil's needs


What We Are Looking For


  • QTS or significant relevant experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Tutor or Teacher

  • Strong experience supporting pupils with complex SEND

  • Experience working with needs such as ASD, SEMH, PMLD, medical needs and/or trauma is desirable

  • Ability to plan and deliver individualised lessons independently

  • Good understanding of EHCPs and EHCP targets

  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs

  • Enhanced DBS that is current and valid, ideally on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

  • Previous experience delivering tuition outside of a traditional classroom setting is desirable

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable but not essential
