Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Maths and English in Bolton, working with SEND learners in a specialist education setting. You will teach two hours of Maths and two hours of English to small groups, plus one paid hour for marking and planning each week, totaling five paid hours weekly for 38 weeks.

The role requires a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (QTS not required) and proven experience in Functional Skills Maths and English with SEND

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English.
• Previous experience teaching SEND learners is essential.
• Confident in adapting teaching methods and resources to support diverse abilities and needs.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service (essential).
• Available to start immediately and commit to the 38-week assignment.
• Able to provide references covering recent employment.

Responsibilities

Location and Package

You ll be based in Bolton, working in a specialist education environment. Teaching hours are Tuesdays from 9:15am to 1:15pm, plus one paid hour for marking and planning, totaling 5 paid hours each week for 38 weeks.

The setting is well resourced, and you ll have access to all the tools you need, including a laptop provided specifically for the duration of your assignment.
