Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Tunnelling/Underground Construction Engineer in London to support planning, development, and execution of tunnel works across Heavy Civil projects. You will provide technical leadership from proposal development through construction execution and closeout.

Based in London, you will collaborate with engineering, procurement, project controls, quality, environmental, and construction teams to ensure successful outcomes and be prepared for periodic international travel to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• 2
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in heavy civil, tunnelling, underground construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop construction execution strategies and plans for tunnel and underground works during proposal and project phases.
• Provide technical input to estimates, schedules, methodologies, and risk assessments.
• Ensure safe execution of tunnel and underground activities per requirements and Bechtel standards.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure designs support safe, efficient construction.
• Review contractor execution plans, schedules, and work packages for underground works.
• Monitor progress against safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
• Identify risks and opportunities and propose mitigation measures.
• Support resolution of technical and operational issues in underground construction.
• Participate in constructability reviews and planning workshops.
• Coordinate interfaces between underground works and other disciplines.
• Assist project reporting on progress, risks, and KPIs.
• Uphold ES&H principles and Bechtel's Zero Accident philosophy.
• Travel to project sites as needed for planning and milestones.
