Job summary

Arup is recruiting a Tunnel Engineer in the UK to contribute to the design and delivery of tunnel and underground projects across the country and internationally. You will join the UK Tunnelling team, based in Birmingham, and work with colleagues across hubs including London and Manchester/Leeds.

You will apply relevant design standards, use analytical tools such as PLAXIS/FLAC, and prepare technical outputs while supporting diverse lifecycle stages and short overseas assignments.

Qualifications

• Experience contributing to the design or construction of tunnels with TBM, SCL or micro-tunnelling.
• Familiar with Eurocodes, BTS and/or ACI design codes.
• Experience using analytical software such as PLAXIS or FLAC.
• Strong report-writing skills and ability to produce technical outputs.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver tunnel and underground projects across the UK and internationally.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to apply design standards and analytical tools.
• Develop technically robust and sustainable tunnelling solutions and outputs.
