Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor (Eqv ST3+ Level) in Hepatology at the Royal London Hospital for a one-year fixed-term post, starting from 1st August 2025 to 31st July 2026. We seek a proactive and enthusiastic trainee who has completed core medical training and wishes to pursue a career in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The role offers experience in inpatient, outpatient, and research aspects of Hepatology within a Level 2 Hepatology unit in a large teaching hospital in East London. Candidates will be encouraged to undergo endoscopy training, participate in Quality Improvement projects, and develop management skills through coordinating the paracentesis clinic. There are no on-call commitments in this post.
Main duties of the job
The role is based at The Liver Unit at The Royal London Hospital, collaborating closely with the Digestive Disorders Clinical Group. The unit works with gastroenterology teams at Whipps Cross Hospital and Newham Hospital, providing outpatient viral hepatitis services. It functions as an integrated multidisciplinary service with links to surgery, pathology, radiology, and paediatric gastroenterology, offering opportunities for additional training in adolescent medicine. The Liver Unit is an international centre for managing complex viral hepatitis and regional hepatitis C services.
