Job summary

Sheffield City Council's Children, Young People and Families service is seeking a Youth Justice Officer in a hybrid role. You will build trust with children and families, apply trauma-informed, strengths-based and restorative approaches, and work with partner agencies to deliver tailored support.

You will represent the service in court, help families understand processes, and contribute to keeping communities safe while promoting inclusion and equality.

Qualifications

• A professional qualification in social work, youth justice or probation.
• Experience working with children and families in a professional setting.
• Experience undertaking assessments, analysing information and developing plans.

Responsibilities

• Champion Trauma-Informed and Restorative Practice with children and families.
• Carry out high-quality assessments and co-produce plans with partners.
• Represent the Service in court and prepare reports for sentencing and hearings.
• Promote inclusion, address disproportionality and support children with SEND.
• Work in multi-agency partnerships to ensure timely access to support.
• Promote victim and community safety and manage risk and wellbeing.
• Engage in supervision and continuous professional development.
