Job summary

Community Health Action of Staten Island is seeking a Recovery Counselor to join the Heroin Overdose Prevention Education (HOPE) program. The role involves conducting substance use disorder assessments and providing individual and group counseling to justice-involved participants. The ideal candidate should hold a CASAC credential and have experience with substance use disorders. This position offers a salary range of $46,300–$51,300 annually, along with an excellent benefits package including paid time off and a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) required.
• Experience providing counseling or recovery support to individuals with substance use disorders.
• Familiarity with harm reduction and trauma-informed care practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive substance use disorder screenings and assessments.
• Develop individualized treatment plans using trauma-informed approaches.
• Facilitate recovery-oriented skill building and psychoeducational activities.
