Qualifications

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience with SEMH, SEND or specialist settings.
  • Calm, patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
  • Understanding of how trauma and attachment affect behaviour and learning.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • Ability to plan engaging, differentiated and personalised learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Create a calm, structured classroom environment.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support pupils.
  • Adapt teaching to reflect pupils' needs and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, carers, Local Authorities and external professionals.
  • Recognise and celebrate individual progress.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities and PSHE to support pupils' wider development.
  • Maintain high expectations while addressing barriers to learning.
